Ali  is very comfortable there and has never said she did not want to go - unlike every other after school program we have had her in!  I love that you give the kids "play time" outside and then have them do their homework.  I am not a big advocate of homework, so I feel that it is very important that they have a little down time before doing it.  I also appreciate that you have enough staff available to help all the kids with their homework.  I know it makes my life easier when we get home if the homework has been completed!

Your program is structured but easy going at the same time - the students know what is expected of them which makes the program so successful!

Thanks for all you and your staff do!

Reagan has really enjoyed going to GAP this year.  As a mom, it’s comforting and a true relief that she looks forward to coming.  From a daily work-life balance perspective it’s extremely helpful that she completes her homework at GAP and it’s done before dinner time!   The staff is very attentive and she receives the reinforcement she needs to complete her daily assignments as well as other educational activities such as computer learning.  I appreciate the variety of activities provided that reinforce creative thinking such as painting posters and banners, using scrap pieces of fabric to make things, making creations out of beads and clay, daily reading time, playing games as well as outdoor play.  The focus on the environment is also a nice attribute. Reagan enjoyed the Georgia Organics project and Roots & Shoots, including the once in a lifetime opportunity to meet Jane Goodall.

Staying open until 6:30 is also a benefit.  My previous after care closed at 6:00 which was sometimes difficult for me.

I like several things about GAP:  structure in the schedule and focus on completing homework before returning home—this allows me to spend time with the kids in a more casual environment  and having dinner together instead of spending our time when we get home rushing through homework.  There is also the convenience factor. GAP is close to home, there is pick up at school and the hours work with my schedule. As a side note, the food is great and healthy which is important to me.

I do like the plan on separating the ages for the classroom activities.

I love everything about GAP... mostly, I love that Jane loves it.  I think she feels very warm, welcomed, and stimulated there.  Truly, a fun home away from home.  I've been so impressed with all the creative programming and activities (particularly the ethnic holiday traditions education, and my most fav, the Jackson Elementary expedition to meet Dr. Jane Goodall in the flesh!)... GAP is not an ordinary aftercare program.   Jane is usually just as excited about what's going on at GAP as she is with her MES curriculum... sometimes more, since you put so much learning into all the playtime activities at GAP.  I think she has also mastered quite a few computer skills during her year with you too... something she's not getting at school that I think is very important.

The most important thing for me is that Benjamin finish his homework correctly each day. We will be back next year.
