Outdoor time is a priority at GAP because we have a lovely space in which to play. We provide balls, jump ropes, bubbles, sidewalk chalk as well as basketball hoop and multiple sandboxes. We see creative minds at work each day in the garden as imaginary play is a GAP favorite. Homework help is provided by certified teachers. We have a wide variety of school supplies, reference materials, and computers available so that students can always go home with their homework complete and understood. We also have a reading library of books for Kindergarten through upper elementary school. Our Friday activities are designed to provide enrichment when few children have homework assignments to complete. We plant seeds and tend our garden, welcome community visitors such as the people from Trees Atlanta or the firemen from across the street, or conduct Disgusting Science experiments. We read books aloud and create art to display what we’ve learned. All of our bulletin boards are created by our students. We have cooking classes where we prepare our own snacks. We are members of Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots, and have events and activities around environmental issues. |
